BUFFALO BILL CENTER OF THE WEST
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West encompasses five museums: The Buffalo Bill Museum, Plains Indian Museum, Cody Firearms Museum, Draper Natural History Museum, and Whitney Western Art Museum. The Buffalo Bill Museum is a western history museum about the museum’s namesake, as well as some of the biggest characters in the West like Annie Oakley, Sitting Bull, Pawnee Bill, and other members of the Wild West Show. If you want to learn about cowboy folklore and pop culture on your way through the Yellowstone area, this is your place to visit. Plains Indian Museum explores cultures, histories, and living traditions of Plains Indian peoples in one of the nation’s largest collections of Native American art and artifacts.
Whitney Art Museum is a world-class collection of western art on the road to Yellowstone. View timeless works of Remington and Russell, relax and reflect, and learn how art shaped the Wild West. Cody Firearm Museum houses more than 4,000 firearms. It’s the most comprehensive firearms museum in the United States, and it’s reason enough to visit the Cody & Yellowstone area. Draper Natural History Museum is a world-class, kid-friendly museum focused on Yellowstone’s sights, sounds, and smells (yes, smells). Learn about wildlife and plants of the area through four vibrant ecosystems!
