CALECO FOUNDRY

The Caleco Foundry is a Bronze Art Foundry located a mile south of Cody. Started by Gene Calhoun and Bucky Hall in 1978, it uses the lost wax process to produce bronx sculpture for its clientele which includes artists located in the area such as Vic Payne and Dusty Payne, as well as regional sculptures like D. Michael Thomas and historical works of Harry Jackson and Charles Rumsey. The foundry can cast everything from small drawer pulls to twice life size monuments such as those located at the Rochelle Center at the University of Wyoming and the Tate Museum at Casper College. The staff offers daily tours of the operation and once a year hosts an open house during the winter solstice where they pour the bronze at night.
